Notes for Wallace Loranger
As a young man Wally was handsome, articulate and the center of attention at every gathering. His parents were very proud of him. With his good voice and ability to play the accordion, guitar and banjo, he would lead the extended family in a songfest. As he grew older, Wally developed an obsession for alcohol. After many years, Della recognized the futility of her dream of an alcohol free marriage and divorced him. They had no children.
Soon after the divorce became final, Wally moved back to the family farm in Middle River to join his brother Robert who had taken over the operation after his parents' deaths. When Wally arrived, Robert was a moderate drinker, but with the help of his brother's pension, he too became dependent on alcohol. Wally died of diabetes and Robert from a heart attack. Wally was a veteran and served after WWII in Germany.
