JOSEPH SHILLAIRE was born March 02, 1855 in Canada, and died November 28, 1893 in Bay City MI. He married MARY JANE DOMOE April 08, 1883 in St Joseph's Catholic Church Bay City MI, daughter of ZIBIDA DOMOE and CAROLINE PELETTE. She was born October 1850 in Michigan, and died March 15, 1912 in Flint MI.

Notes for JOSEPH SHILLAIRE:
The death certificate for Joseph does not show his birthdate but gives his age as 38 years,8 months,26 days at the time of his death which would make his birthdate approximately March 2, 1855. It shows his birthplace as Quebec, father as David Shillair and mother as "Delline" Shillair. Place of burial and funeral home were not entered nor was wife's name. Date of record was May 15, 1894.

Notes for MARY JANE DOMOE:
All previous documentation obtained made reference to Alfred's mother's maiden name as "unknown Sovey". Two things to consider here....this information was given by Alfred himself when he was 18 yrs old and other documents giving information came from a secondary source.

Mary's maiden name was obtained from the 1900 census (ED#35), dist #10, sheet #7. Name was spelled Mary Shilaire and she was enumerated with her three children and her father. His first name is illegible, but appears to be Zebida with the last name spelled Dumoe.

Marriage Notes for JOSEPH SHILLAIRE and MARY DOMOE:
Marriage certificate was.obtained from St Joseph Catholic Church, 1005 Third St, Bay City MI which indicated the witnesses were a James Dumas and? Fournier. Ceremony was performed by M. Thibodeau CCSp. Their names were shown as Joseph "Chillaire" and Mary Jane "Dumas".

A letter received from the church along with the document said that her name appears in their records as Mary Jane, Maria Joanna and Joanne and that her last name always appeared as Dumas but they had no record of a baptism for either party.

In a phone call to the church secretary, Kathleen Woods, after receipt of the document, it was further learned that Joseph's parents names were shown as David Chillaire and Delphine Desm?{uneadable}

ALFRED SHILLAIRE, b. March 20, 1884, Bay City MI; d. May 22, 1964, Bay City MI.
MABEL C. SHILLAIRE, b. May 29, 1886; d. December 11, 1942, Los Angeles CA.
